Nutrition

Poor nutrition is the #1 source of organism mortality in healthy reef systems.  Unlike freshwater fish which have relatively simple nutritional requirements, marine organisms have a much higher need for nutrients, especially critical nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids.   Saltwater organisms can require up to 50X more Omega-3 than their freshwater or terrestrial counterparts!

Omega-3 Fatty-Acid nutrients are created by marine microplankton (phytoplankton and zooplankton) and passed up the food chain, so all organisms in the ocean are high in Omega-3's.  That's not the case in most reef systems.   The artificial diets in most pelletized marine feeds are either low in Omega-3's, or don't have the right kind of Omega-3's that can be readily digested (they have the triglyceride forms rather than the more bio-available phospholipid forms).  And unfortunately, a lack of Omega-3's may not cause obvious problems - your fish and corals either look fine, or they unexpectedly die.

Reef Nutrition products are made from high quality microplankton and every one of our products is very high in Omega-3 fatty acids.  Regular feedings of our products will boost the Omega-3 fatty acid levels in all the organisms in your reef systems, making them healthier and less prone to unexpected mortality.  They also have higher survival rates when the environmental changes (i.e. temperature, pH, and salinity).

We highly recommend regular feedings of Reef Nutrition products to your customers that are new in the market because it will help keep their organisms healthier.  Sometimes all it takes is having one of their favorite fish die to make them discouraged and leave the market.   On average the customer base for marine ornamentals turns over every 18 months.   If your new customers can be more successful and you prolong the turn-over to 24 months, there will be 33% more people in the market and buying from you.
